PRIYApproved! Toys and Gear that are great for development!

Want to know what toys to buy for your niece or nephew? Wondering what the best toys are to buy your almost 2 year old that are fun, and also work on his/her development? Live in a small apartment and need toys that are multi-functional and fit into your small space?

You’ve come to the right place!

I have been obsessed with toys for as long as I can remember.

As a child I would ask my mother to “buy me a surprise” every time we entered a toy store.

As a teenager, I volunteered at a Children’s hospital in the toy department. Every Christmas we would wrap gifts for the children at the hospital and sort them by which children we thought would enjoy them the most.

I was the only 18 year old to bring a bunch of toy figurines to my dorm room and display them for all to see!

Once I became a teacher and subsequently a pediatric occupational therapist, I finally had a legitimate reason to buy toys as an adult! Entering a toy store, a department store or even a dollar store is like visiting Disney Land for me. Being a toy obsessed kid-at-heart makes my teaching and occupational therapy sessions extra fun.

Just ask my clients!

Over the years several friends, family members and clients have asked for my advice on toys and baby/kid gear for their children. I’ve spent hours each time developing lists of appropriate gear or toys. Sometimes I would strike items off their lists if they were unnecessary or bad for child development.

I’ve decided to put all of that information in one place on my blog. If a toy or piece of baby gear/equipment meets my criteria it will be stamped PRIYApproved! Get it? Haha!

PRIYAapproved items always:

· have multiple uses

· can be used for various phases of development and can grow with your child.

· are developmentally appropriate and work to improve motor skills not inhibit them.

You can trust a PRIYApproved item to be the best gift for the kid(s) and families in your life! On occasion, I’ll even have a discount code for you to use. You can trust that all of the information here is based on my experience and research as a teacher, occupational therapist, and developmental interventionist.

I’ve done the research and time tested these things so that you don’t have to!
